Avnet tech competition to offer $30K scholarship

Alli_pic2BNWAvnet Tech Games is giving away $30,000 in scholarships for their 11th annual event. The opportunity will be available in competitions including fields such as computer configuration, data analysis, robot construction, and other STEM-based challenges. College students will be attending from universities, community colleges, as well as technical schools, competing in teams for monetary prizes or honors. Competitions also include a robot race, Social Media Mania, where students compete to use social media in marketing the perfect Spring Break 2017, and also solar scrimmage concerning solar power.

Avnet, the host, is a Fortune 500 company making over $27 billion in 2015 alone, setting a goal to help students with skills and scholarships. The company is using the competition to improve students’ task completion skills as well as testing their knowledge in the field and getting them to work under pressure. The student who wins is offered $1000 in scholarship money. Winners are also invited to tour the Avnet facility as well as meet with the CIO of the company, Steve Phillips.The Avnet Tech Games will take place on Saturday, April 2 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the University of Advancing Technology in Tempe, Arizona.
