Don’t be lazy; find out if student discounts are available

By: Julija Kaselyte

It’s old news that most students are broke.

Books are extremely expensive; I rent them myself and all I can say is that even renting is still very overpriced.

“You saved $170 for renting the books.” Well, what about the $300 which I paid?

Also, at various art classes we learn how to use numerous Adobe programs and many of us probably thought how cool it

would be to just have all of them on our personal computers so we could practice at home.

But it is expensive to purchase even one of them. Being a student sounds pretty miserable, right?

Not anymore. That’s how I used to feel until I started looking for discounts for those who go to school. There is no magic behind it; all you have to do is show your student ID.

It turns out that for $19.99 per month you can get the entire iCloud package which includes all the newest apps and services.

Moreover, students who are interested in photography and only needs programs related to it have an opportunity to only pay

$9.99 per month for Creative

Cloud Photography which includes the newest versions of Photoshop, Lightroom and other programs.

But that’s not it. To buy or

rent your books you don’t have to go to expensive bookstores. Sometimes teachers or your classmates can recommend some good websites where you can get study material for a way cheaper price.

If not, don’t be lazy, look it up. You can save lots of money.

What about other deals on a daily basis, like food and clothes?

A lot of restaurants suggest discounts for students, even if

it is 5 or 10 percent off it is still better than nothing.

Also, before school started I

was browsing at various clothes

stores and plenty of them were offering from 10 to 15 percent off discounts for students and teachers.

And even a few weeks later I was buying something at one of them and asked if they still had that discount.

Surprisingly, they were very positive about it. So, don’t be scared to ask.

However, my favorite thing about being a student is that I can watch movies at theaters for a very reasonable prices.

And the list goes on and on, what’s not to like about it? Time to start using your student ID!
