Gun safety is your responsibility

A 9-year-old girl
has recently become the center of much attention.
Her parents took her to a shooting range in Dolan Springs, Ariz.
The small girl was given an Uzi with which to practice.
The gun was on its fully-automatic setting when she lost control, causing the gunfire to curve up to her left and
hit her instructor – Charles Vacca – in the head. Vacca died soon after.
Raging in America is the ever repetitive, ideological battle over firearms.
They are prohibited in many places of business, as well as schools and airports.
In Arizona, you have to be 18 years old to own a shotgun or rifle.
You have to be 21 years old, however, to own a handgun.
If you are underaged, you can often shoot a
gun at a range when accompanied by a parent or guardian.
It is easy for us to get lost in debate following a tragedy such as this.
Some rise up and demand that we have tighter legislation on our firearms.
I do not believe that is the answer, though.
The 2nd Amendment reads as follows: “A well- regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right
of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”
Our country’s founders had to make use of that right when waging the war for today’s freedom.
Firearms are dangerous – but if a society is to be truly free, it must preserve these rights.
As a country, we have
lost the idea of American exceptionalism.
The right to bear arms sets us apart from other countries, just as our
entire form of government does.
When dealing with firearms, we need to make sure we take the necessary precautions.
Should someone let their 9-year-old child fire a fully-automatic Uzi?
Absolutely not.
Not because guns are evil, but because it is too much power for a child to handle.
The right to bear arms is essential to our freedom.
It keeps our government from becoming tyrannical and
it gives everyone the self- defense they deserve.
People are not killed
by guns, they are killed by other people.
It is time to stop blaming the weapon our founders fought for us to possess, and blame the people who make reckless decisions with those weapons.
