“Little known fact: Our mascot’s name is Thor,” said Associated Students of MCC adviser Kim Kocak.
MCC’s Spirit Week took place on Sept. 22 through Sept. 27. Across campus, Student Life & Leadership organized several festivities to celebrate the week.
Sept. 24 saw an Instagram contest across campus. MCC’s mascot, Thor, went across campus, posing with students for their Instagram pictures.
The student who took the best picture with Thor was awarded a prize from Student Life & Leadership.
Sept. 25 was dubbed “Thor’s Day,” in honor of the mascot.
ASMCC also released a video titled “A Day in the Life of Thor,” which followed the thunderbird around campus.
This year, ASMCC is looking to bring attention to MCC’s athletic teams.
The Thunderbirds baseball team held a celebration on Sept. 25 in honor of their 2014 NJCAA Division II Title, and record season.
The baseball season will start up again on Oct. 1.
In addition to all of the festivities, the Student Life & Leadership golf cart was decorated like a float in order to celebrate Spirit Week.
Homecoming ended Spirit Week on Sept. 27. Food trucks lined the parking lot at 6:30 p.m., giving up to two free food vouchers to the first 200 students who displayed their student ID.
Students who “like” ASMCC and the Student Life pages on Facebook can visit their offices and show that they “like” the pages in order to win a free T-shirt.
