The current season, Roanoke season six that first aired Sept. 14 of this year has a score of seventy-nine, on the Tomatometer from Rotten Tomatoes. For almost a whole year season seven remained a secret. When the first photo stills were released it made it seem as the show would be giving us not only the usual creepiness but a “Texas Chainsaw Massacre” feel as well. Since the show started it seems to be a bit different than what the photo stills showed the viewers.  Roanoke is based on a fictional documentary series with re-enactments that covers supernatural events.  The show this season is heading back to its original roots by telling not only a horror story but making the viewers feel as if the show is indeed real with the documentary added to it.  I  Myself had to do a double-take to understand that this season was still indeed fictional because it felt so real when I started watching the show.

The season so far followed a married couple named Shelby and Matt Miller who move from California to North Carolina.  Shelby and Matt purchase this big old fashion colonial home and start to notice strange things happening. As each episode airs, viewers get to understand what is really going on in the home that Matt and Shelby bought. We are also introduced to Matt’s sister, Lee, who is a recovering addict trying to spend time with her daughter Flora. Viewers, later on, come to find out the home was built on top of an area where the lost Roanoke Colony haunt the land. Many fan favorite actors returned to AHS this year such as Sarah Paulson, Denis O’Hare, Angela Bassett, Kathy Bates, and more.Kathy Bates’ character plays the main ghost character known as “The Butcher” who is out to kill anyone who lives on her land.

Season five: Freak Show was the final season for actor and fan favorite Jessica Lange. Fans were heartbroken to find out that Lange would no longer be apart of the AHS family, and after that it was said that Lady Gaga would be joining the show. Fans were ecstatic when they were told that Lady Gaga was returning for another season of AHS to play a huge role since her last role in Hotel, as “The Countess.”  “The Countess” was Gaga’s first real role into the acting world and not only fit her perfectly but was successful with the fans as well. Gaga plays a witch in season seven named “Scathach” who we later learn becomes infatuated with Matt.  Episode five called “Chapter 5” ends with the family leaving the house escaping The Butcher’s death, and shows how Matt and Shelby are thankful that it was over. It is shown that this season will only have ten episodes.

Episode five ends the story of the “Roanoke nightmare” and episode six changes the direction of the whole entire season.  Viewers are now left with a “Paranormal Activity” feel of the show.  Where the producers of Roanoke nightmare bring the actors and the real people from the docuseries to now stay in the haunted house during the blood moon.  American Horror Story has never let fans down with the shock factor of the show, and HAS always LEFT fans guessing. The show itself has been such a success that Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights in Hollywood, California jumped on board by making a maze based on the popular show.

The maze starts in the season one Murder house then moves to season four Freak Show where customers get to meet the creepy Twisty the clown. After one meets their fate with Twisty they check into the Hotel Cortez. The Halloween Horror events will take place until Saturday, November 5 of this year. If you’re wanting to get into the show, no worries. Like mentioned earlier, each season is a completely different story line. All the previous seasons can be watched on Netflix or Amazon video, and to watch the current season, one can watch it on FX.
