Auto program seeks vehicles to service

The MCC Automotive Technology Program needs vehicles to inspect and service this semester.

Students in the auto tech program complete repairs as part of their program of study.

Outside support of the program enhances the students’ education by servicing all types of vehicles.  Only vehicles from the 1996 model year and newer are eligible for this opportunity; vehicles need to be equipped with the latest technology to benefit students.  The types of inspections and repairs are limited, however.

Eligible repairs this semester are:

  • Steering Suspension and Alignment – Alignment checks, strut/shock replacement, steering & suspension components and power steering leaks (hoses, pumps, or rack & pinion assemblies).
  • Electrical – Battery checks, starter issues, alternator issues and simple electrical malfunctions.
  • Powertrains – Any manual transmission, clutch, drive axle/drive shaft, CV boot, engine mounts, differential issues, noises, or vehicle leaks.
  • Performance – Check engine light on and emission test failures, timing belt replacement (any other engine related issues deemed appropriate by the instructor).

There are no charges for vehicle inspections and repair estimates.  Customers will receive a labor estimate and an itemized list of the recommended parts to complete the repair.   If repairs are recommended, the customer must acquire all parts before the start of any repair.

Suggested sources for professional quality parts will be included with the repair estimate.

After the initial inspection and recommendations for parts and labor are provided to the customer, a second appointment will need to be made for the actual repair.  Completion times required for repairs cannot be provided.  Industry established labor time guides are used to determine labor costs for repairs.  Rate is $25 per flat rate labor hour.

To schedule an appointment, call 480-461-7146.  If no answer, please leave a detailed message.  Call between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. Monday through Thursday.

Vehicles should be dropped off between 7:45 a.m. and 10 a.m.

The shop closes at 3 p.m.
