How to rock like a girl and get backstage

Brianna Martinez

I’m not one to read “Ultimate Guide to” books, but “Cherry Bomb” by Carrie Borzillo-Vrenna features advice for any girl who has ever imagined herself as a rockstar’s wife, girlfriend, or friend. It was entertaining advice and provoked thoughts like: “Would I actually ever try this?”

It could get some girls to think outside their box, that is for certain.

The author is married to Chris Vrenna, one time drummer for Nine Inch Nails and currently the keyboardist for Marilyn Manson, so it’s safe to say she has some legitimate experience on living life like a rock star.

In the book she spills ways on how to get backstage at a concert, how to look like you know what you’re doing with a drum set, anything you need to know upon entering a club, ordering drinks, flirting, and who to hang with when out at a club.

The book also features tips from other celebrities such as fashion advice from Betsey Johnson, Katy Perry, and Alexander McQueen.

One of my favorite chapters in the book was on how to deal with “Bitchy Broads.”

She gives smooth comebacks to throw back at the one girl you just cannot stand at times, and they don’t even make you look rude.

The book gives tons of tips on how to live life like a rockstar and, though, some I would never attempt, like hiding in the bathroom four hours before a concert starts just to get backstage, I can at least always have the knowledge of those tips in the back of my mind.

As Joan Jett says in the song “Cherry Bomb”, “Hello world, I’m your wild girl, I’m your ch ch ch ch ch cherry bomb.”

So if you feel daring and wild, I suggest reading the book to thoroughly bring out your inner rocker chick.

For some, it might be hard to believe, but we all have one of those in us.
