Obama deserves 4 more years

Dominic DeCono

Bin Laden is dead.

Affordable health care is available to millions of more people.

Pell Grants have been expanded.

4.5 million jobs have been created and millions more saved through the stimulus.

Can you say four more years?

What President Obama has done in his first term is really remarkable and he deserves to be re-elected.

Look at what he had to deal with; a Congress whose sole goal was to block anything and everything he proposed, an economy ruined by the previous administration and two of the longest wars in American history.

When he took office the entire economy was on the brink of a collapse, and the country was losing 250,000 jobs every month with no end in sight.

It was the worst economy since the Great Depression.

But instead of allowing the free market to destroy itself, Obama did the right thing and stepped in.

He rescued GM and passed a stimulus bill that almost all economists say worked in helping jumpstart the economy.

The Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) provided incredible improvements to healthcare including the expansion of coverage to millions more people, more access to things like cancer screenings and contraceptives and he outlawed lifetime limits on health insurance.

He ended the Iraq war and has effectively crushed Al-Qaeda by taking out not just Bin Laden but many of their top ranking officers.

So why has he received so much criticism?

The reason is simple; people aren’t seeing or feeling the effects of his administration fast enough.

Many parts of the health care law don’t come into effect until 2014 and the economy in some areas haven’t improved enough to people’s liking.

Our society has become too accustomed to fast results and repairing a highly damaged economy takes time, especially when the other side does everything to stop his ideas.

Could Obama have done some things better? No question; everyone makes mistakes.
