Share new experiences with friends

By: Kian Hagerman

Being active in society can provide a lot of benefits, as well as insights into the particular part of the world you reside in.

Participating in different social settings provides not only new experiences, but potential to discover a joy or passion in life one might never have been made aware of otherwise.

Going to the theater and watching a movie is a shared experience that gives those in attendance fodder for discussion with their peers, and a method of connecting to like-minded individuals that could become friends for life; it is also far different from watching the same movie at home.

A sense of camaraderie springs up from such events, especially when going with a group to share the time with.

However, stepping outside one’s comfort zone can yield even greater results.

Instead of going to see a movie, one might find out if there is a play they might be interested in; instead of going to the same club every weekend, check if there is a particular comedian or musician worth going to watch perform.

Trying the unusual makes life more vibrant, and can offer a new perspective on the more mundane process of the day-to-day.

Going for a hike reveals the beauty of nature, rock climbing can test one’s limits; the myriad number of activities one can partake of means that feeling bored and content to do nothing should not be an option.

Even if it doesn’t seem worthwhile, trying something new is its own reward. Doing so in a social setting opens one up to meeting different kinds of people, outside of the social circles one runs in.

Joining a group hike lead by a tour guide, one can learn about the local flora and fauna that occupy the region, and share the difficult legs of the trail with others.

Rock climbing with others not only secures greater safety for all those involved, but means one can occupy the time by learning more about those also out on the cliff face.

Shared experiences don’t necessitate strenuous activity, only that the actions one takes part in are with others.

Stepping outside the norm is living life to its fullest; there is too much to do in this world with only one life to live, but finding new things one might enjoy and then doing them can be the greatest boon.

Try something new, and bring friends along for the ride.
