– 7.0 magnitude earthquake killed over 200,000 in Port-au-Prince.

The Saints win the Superbowl 2/7

– The Saints defeated the Colts 31-17 for their first Superbowl win.

“Obamacare” passes 3/21

– House of Representatives passed senate version of “Obamacare” with a vote of 219 to 212.

Justin Bieber, teen phenomenon 3/23

– At 16-years old, Bieber is the youngest solo male artist to reach number one on the Billboard 200 since Stevie Wonder.

SB1070 passes in Arizona 4/19

– Bill changed the way of life for illegal immigrants. Police allowed to perform checks on reasonable and suspicion persons. It is currently being reviewed by the Ninth Circut U.S. Court of Appeals.

BP Oil spill 4/20

– Oil rig explodes in the Gulf of Mexico. Many Local businesses and wild life are affected.

Ground Zero Islamic Center 8/19

– Debate of Islamic Center on Ground Zero forced Americans to question how they view Muslims.

Chilean miners rescued 10/13

– After 69 days miners were rescued by taking a 15 minute journey through 2,050 feet of rock. Miners were reunited with their families at the surface.

Medical Marijuana Passes 11/13

– The bill passed by 4,341 yes votes. Licensed physicians will be able to sell marijuana to patients with medical conditions.

North Korea bombs South Korea 11/23

– The attack came days after North Korea was pressing ahead with its illegal nuclear program. It is believed that the attack was sparked by South Korea’s military exercise in the area.
