Passionate, outspoken, and fun are three things that describe Mesa Community College Basketball player Charles Wardell Jr.  Born in Milwaukee, Wis. Wardell has a mother, Vanetta, brother, Jovanni, and sister, Joyneishia.  “The reason I chose to come to MCC was that my friend told me about the great coaching staff and the team,” Wardell said.

Currently, Wardell is a communications major with the plan of playing basketball somewhere so he can provide for his family.According to Wardell, education is defined as something that is needed and important and can get you far in life.  Wardell has set some goals for himself, such as getting a scholarship to continue playing basketball at a university and wining a championship with the team.

Wardell would like to give this advice to all MCC students; “go to class, work hard and the hard work will pay off in the end.”  So far in Wardell’s life the biggest accomplishment he has had was getting on the honor roll at MCC.According to Wardell, some people may say it’s easy to play college ball but it’s really hard work.  From the outside one might not see that Wardell likes to write poetry,  listen to music and play chess in his spare time.
