Located across the street from Mesa Community College, coffee shop Cup O’ Karma is a good place to drink a cup of joe and listen to live music, with all profits donated to charity.Every third Monday of the month at Cup O’ Karma is Open mic night, hosted by MCC’s Music Industry Club, provided by the music business program at MCC.

The club provides students with first-hand experience in the music industry, while the proceeds of each event are donated to a good cause, hence the shop’s nickname “A Community Café for a Cause.”

Cup O’ Karma is a non-profit organization that supports the National Advocacy and Training Network for battered and abused women.

All proceeds collected during open mic nights are donated to women and families who have been victims of domestic violence or sexual abuse.

Thinking of both the great cup of coffee in hand and the cause it lends a hand to, student Cherish Jones said “Nothing is more relaxing than sitting in a coffee shop enjoying live music, especially if it’s an open mic, you never know what you’ll hear. The coffee is great, and I strongly support the cause my money is donating to, it’s important to lend a hand wherever you can.”

In addition to open mic night, Cup O’ Karma also offers live music every Wednesday and Friday, and Saturday features open mic and live music.

The café is open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday; 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays;
