Comic book media goes mainstream
As film adaptations of comic book franchises become more commonplace, it leads one to wonder just how ingrained comic book media will become in culture. Once marginalized, with the rise of “nerd culture” it seems that the fictional worlds of comic books have come along for the ride. Kids that grew up watching cartoon shows based on Spiderman and Batman are now college age adults, the target audience of all things pop culture. Though not necessarily firmly established, it appears that as long as comic book properties remain both relevant and profitable to consumers, the deluge of film, television, and video game adaptations will continue unabated.
