Dental hygiene students given the chance to brighten smiles

When entering college some students find that they are undecided on what path to take. The college experience gives students a chance to explore potential future careers and allow them to find their suitable strengths.

A trip to MCC’s Dental Hygiene Program could be beneficial to explore different careers and help find that fast-paced career that could open the door for opportunities.

“Students constantly work hands on to prepare them for the real world in this field,” said Phoebe Blitz, coordinator of the program.

Students also have the opportunity to serve for the better of their community by working with people who do not have the advantages of dental care.

Blitz also noted that students have the advantage at MCC to work with state of the art equipment, keeping them constantly up to date.

Students will find themselves working hands-on with real life patients immediately starting their second semester.

Students who are not interested in joining the program can still benefit from the dental care program at MCC.

Students who do not have dental care can call and make an appointment for about half the cost of an appointment at a regular dental practice.

Blitz assures that this is complete quality care with no errors involved, and she even boasts that the care you receive from her students far surpasses the care at a regular practice.

The reason behind this is that every step is carefully examined by an instructor before the student can move on to ensure everything is executed properly.

The downside to this is that you might find yourself in the dreaded dental chair for about three hours, but Blitz says her students will give wonderful dental care and make the experience as comfortable as possible.

The appointment times for dental visits are after normal work hours so almost anyone can use the services provided by the dental program.

All dental appointments are scheduled Monday – Thursday from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.

If you would like to schedule an appointment for a cleaning you can do so by calling (480) 248-8195.
