The annual Art Faculty Show took place on Oct. 5 in the Navajo room located in the Kirk Student Center. The art show consisted of artwork that was made by faculty in the art department.

Although MCC currently doesn’t have an art gallery, the art department puts on two shows throughout the year consisting of both faculty and student artwork.

“I really like the chance to take a look at my teachers art work,” said MCC student Serena Hernandez.

“It really does prove that they are good at what they teach and I can appreciate that,” Hernandez said.

This is my first semester at MCC and my first art faculty show,” said MCC student Denise Elfenbein.

As a fan of photography, Elfenbein has great appreciation for all pieces displayed in the art show.

“So far I think that this art show is really cool. I am a photographer and I studied art so I always appreciate coming to any art exhibits.”

Student Clint Richardson agrees.

“All of the art work that is displayed is really amazing,” Richardson said.

“I believe that by having this show, students are able to see how great the teachers really are here at MCC,” Richardson said.

“In the future I encourage students to events like this,” Richardson said.

MCC President Shouan Pan believes the art show will send a message to students.

“I think it is a great event. Not only does it showcase the talent of our faculty, but it also sends a very strong message to students,” Pan said.

“The faculty are artists and experts in their fields. They continue to develop their talent skills and are willing to share them. I think it is another way of teaching,” Pan said.

“This occasion extends beyond the classroom. Some of the art work displayed is tremendous. Overall this event had a great turnout,” he added.
