Jacobs promoted to interim head football coach

On January 30, MCC’s sports information director Todd Bolser announced that offensive coordinator Mike Jacobs will become the interim head coach of the Mesa football team. The announcement comes just four weeks after Dan Dunn resigned as head coach of the football team.

Jacobs has been involved with coaching for almost 30 years now and has 13 college bowl games of experience during his career.

The most notable of those would be 1997 Rose Bowl, in which Jacobs was an assistant for the Ohio State squad.

It is still unclear who the assistant coaches will be and whether or not the team will announce a permanent head coach anytime soon.

Indications are that Jacobs is the front runner for the permanent job as well.

Jacobs will have his work cut out for him, having lost a key core of players, including starting quarterback Dax Crum, who transfered to Wyoming two weeks ago.
