A local band of students creates a new crowd to raise awareness and support on a variety of causes on and off the Maricopa Community College District campuses. The band Boys and Frogs has been asked by a few different organizations throughout the MCCD to get a new genre of students introduced and educated about campus clubs and causes.
“The Black Student Union event was during February, I believe which is Black History Month, so it was just a culture celebration,” Michael Alexander, vocalist for Boys and Frogs, said.
Sharing their music with others who typically would not listen by choice gives them an opportunity to learn about others.
“We opened the show with three songs and the traditional African dancer children just free styled with us,” Alexander said.
The band released their first music video for “In Dreams,” Boys and Frogs’ new single, on October 23 at the Madcap Theatre.
“It’s a bit delayed as far as being with the modern popularity of the Internet, Youtube and social networks that cater specifically to media like this. Getting a proper video done should have been done a while ago,” Alexander said.
The band just signed with River Jones Music Label. The biggest name on the label is Courtney Marie Andrews who is touring with Jimmy Eat World.
