Readers speak out about ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’

Online Wayne How honorable is the US military when it requires me to lie as a condition to dying for my country?

So you have no problem with the military’s blood supply being contaminated with HIV?

Where will the gays be quartered? Amongst straight people? I don’t think so, not unless men and women can also be quartered together.

What about Hepatitis outbreaks, as gays are more prone to contracting it via anilingus?

Have you ever served in the military? I did, for 18 and a half years, now 100 percent disabled, permanent and total, and we do not want gays in the military, it’s bad enough having to accept women.

You gays just want to cruise the straight ranks, admit it, “serving your country” is secondary. Please, go back to the closet, and stay there.

To Glenn Lee.

You have only succeeded in demonstrating your ignorance and prejudice.

Just because you served for 18 plus years, does not make you the voice of all who have served and continue to serve.

As a female officer, still serving 17 plus years, I feel compelled to dismiss anything you’ve stated simply because you wrote, “it’s bad enough having to accept women.”

As you know, there are physical, and even mental, and professional standards that are established in the military.

When those standards are not met, then those individuals should be dealt with accordingly – regardless of their sex, race, religion, or orientation.

I will close by stating that I do not speak for the military, instead I speak for sensibility, humanity, and fairness.
