Secretary of the Treasury Janet L. Yellen will visit Mesa Community College to tour automation and engineering labs

The United States Department of the Treasury announced Secretary of the Treasury Janet L. Yellen will visit Mesa Community College on Saturday, May 4 to tour automation and engineering labs.

Yellen will be joined by Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego and Mesa Mayor John Giles.

The visit is part of a two day trip Yellen will be taking to Arizona to highlight the Biden administration’s economic agenda and workforce development efforts, according to a release from the U.S. Department of the Treasury. 

Yellen’s visit to Arizona begins on Friday, May 3 at 10:30 a.m. in Sedona, Arizona with an address on the economic case for democracy and a conversation with Arizona State University president Michael Crow, according to the release.

“Secretary Yellen will also highlight the essential role democracy plays in America’s economic success and discuss ways that the Biden Administration has worked to advance democracy in the United States and globally, including through the President’s historic investment agenda that is proving democracy can deliver for all Americans,” read the release.

Yellen is scheduled to tour MCC’s campus at 10:30 a.m. before a roundtable discussion with workforce training leaders and public remarks regarding the Biden-Harris administration at the East Valley American Jobs Center at 2:00 p.m.
