Softball continues to roll, pummels Gateway Community College

Mesa’s softball team continued to roll through their competition with ease against Gateway Community College. After tough losses to South Mountain, Mesa responded with a sweep of shutouts against Scottsdale and a 6-0 win against Gateway.

The lights on the scoreboard were partially out for the opponent’s score. “Coach broke the scoreboard yesterday with a shot to center field,” freshman Heather Howe said.

If Mesa keeps batting the way they have, they might break the other side of the scoreboard too.

Sarah Sandoval has continued her dominance at the plate. She is batting .576 on the season, with 68 hits and a whopping 40 RBIs.

Tiffanee Frampton is just behind her with 36 RBIs. Frampton has also been dominant on the mound, acquiring her 15th win on just three losses. Her ERA of 1.261 is daunting to say the least.

With the regional tournament coming up quickly at the end of the month, Mesa looks to ride their momentum into the tournament.

“We’re rolling right now. We need to sustain this momentum and build on it,” Howe said.
