Designers are looking for individuals who are ambitious or curious to model. They are invited to join designers in the TC1W building on the Dobson and Southern campus Wednesday Feb. 24, 1-4 p.m.
The purpose of the search is to help the designers get a grasp on working with individuals and sewing
From slim to plus size, all individuals are encouraged to attend. It gives the designers an opportunity to work with all shapes and sizes.
“Class work and individual work from the designer merchandizing program,” Michael Kushibab, student and chair of the fashion committee, said.
Those who are apply should be 16 years old and up and all are advised to wear fitting clothing; and women, if possible, are encouraged to wear a pair of high heels.
“The process will go something like this: you go to the designated room and there is where you fill out an application, which mainly will have your name age and dress size. We then take photographs of you for the designers,” Kushibab said.
Returning individuals or those with experience, should bring their personal portfolio with them to the meeting.
Those who are involved with the runway acts will have professional assistance through MAC cosmetics and professional hair dressers and stylists.
Agencies throughout Arizona have been contacted to attend this event, for a chance to see the college’s talent and potential models for their agency.
John Casablancas, owner of John Casablancas Modeling and Career Centers, has an agency located in Phoenix, is known in the modeling industry to take local talent and show it off to other countries.
The MCC campus has a club and other programs that would like to put the word out there of the different events they encounter.
The Fashion Focus club meets and helps students become aware of the fashion and merchandizing industry.
Since the club has a large variety of people in the club with different interests, such as merchandizing, marketing and advertizing and fashion itself.
Recently, the club went to the opening of Barneys New York at the Scottsdale Fashion Square Mall.
It will be the second fashion show held at the Southern and Dobson campus on April 29.
