Student Life offers team building to help overcome life’s challenges

Each year Student Life and Leadership hosts workshops for students to not only network with one another but also to gain life experiences.
“The first of the two workshops are hosted by all Student Life departments across the district,” said Student Life programming specialist Zona Bailey.
The March 5 workshop is the Environment Action and Leadership workshop. The conference is from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Gateway Community College.
“(The workshop) will emphasize skills like sustainability and leadership as well as team building and district wide networking,” Bailey said.
The second workshop offered, will allow students to work together to overcome physical challenges.
“The second program on March 12, is less of a workshop and more of a full-day physical retreat in Gold Canyon. We encourage students to work collectively to resolve difficult physical challenges like the high ropes course, low-level plank exercise and general teamwork related confidence builders,” Bailey said.
The importance of teamwork was to be emphasized in the program.
“Everything we do requires trust and teamwork in order to succeed, to ensure that our students and future leaders understand the impact of working together to accomplish a common goal,” Bailey said.
Bailey believes these workshops will benefit students and encourages them to sign up.
“These workshops are not only fun, but they are an opportunity for students to learn about themselves and network around the district at their own college,” Bailey said.
“There is no fee to sign up for these workshops. Transportation and meals will be provided,” Bailey said.
For more information students can contact Zona Bailey at (480) 461-7277 or the Student Life and Leadership office at the Red Mountain campus at (480) 654-7759 to register.
