The Dirty Heads grow in fame with new album

Emerging from Orange County California, The Dirty Heads have been bursting out of the music scene with a unique blend of hip-hop and reggae tunes. The band has recently re-released their debut album, “Any Port in a Storm” including their hit single, “Lay me down” featuring Rome from Sublime with Rome.

How’s the tour going so far?

“The tour is going really really good. We have been out with Sublime for three months now.

It’s really cool to get in front of thousands of people who wouldn’t normally see us,” said lead singer Jared Watson.

What has it been like going on the road with Sublime with Rome?

“It’s really cool because we are a big family. Not only do we get to play and see two of the members of a band (Sublime) that we grew up listening to that pretty much inspired us to start writing music, but we get to watch that with one of our best friends singing,” Watson said.

Tell me the history of the band? How did you guys meet?

“Me and John, our percussionist, have been friends since third grade.

Me and Dustin “Duddy” met through our older brothers and they are actually the ones that gave us our name. We were the little brothers that kind of wanted to be like our older brothers. They would call us little dirty heads,” Watson said.

You guys recently re-released “Any Port in a Storm.” What is your reaction to the attention it’s getting?

“We are stoked. This is what we have been working for are just glad that it happened with a cool song like “Lay me down” and that it wasn’t forced or anything like that and that,” Watson said.

“It was cool to have a song come out and blow up like that. I think “Lay me down” helped the recognition for people to go out and buy the album and get to hear all of the songs. It worked out really well for us,” Watson said.

What can we expect in the future from The Dirty Heads?

“Of course we are going to continue touring because the album is doing so well. We will continue to tour until next summer.

Between now and then, we are going to try and get overseas, because the album is being released internationally. But while we are doing that we are writing the second album right now and we will be playing a couple of new songs on our set during this tour,” Watson said.

“Any Port in a Storm” is currently available and can be purchased at several retail locations.
