Women’s and men’s tennis sweep Imperial Valley

MCC men’s and women’s tennis dominated Imperial Valley in singles and doubles, with both going 9-0 on Feb. 7 at Mesa Community College.

The men won every singles match in straight sets and only lost two games in that stretch.

The men’s team is led by No.1 singles player Gustavo D’Acenzi and he looked focused.

“My forehand today was really good and my backhand too,” D’Acenzi said. “The ball was really fast.”

In doubles the men only lost three games in those three matches.

The women had just as good of a day as they only lost three games in their six singles matches.

The women are led by their No. 1 singles player Desiree Jackson and she felt there was room for improvement.

“I felt good,” Jackson said. “We just need to learn to play with our nerves.”

The men will play at home at 8 a.m. on Feb. 21 for the ACCAC Jamboree.

The women’s next home matches are scheduled for 10 a.m. on Feb. 17 versus Dixie State University before the ACCAC Jamboree.
