Be my Valentine! (but only if we’re still dating)

Feb. 14 is a special day of celebration in many cultures that involves different expressions of love through love cards, chocolates, and romantic places.

verywhere people look they are surrounded by heart-shaped touting phrases like, “Be mine” and ”I love you”. Many people, however, shudder at the thought of not having a date to celebrate, but there are plenty of options and an amazing selection of beautiful places in Arizona where you could find yourself a beautiful date.

It’s a holiday that people can relish without necessarily being in love.

In addition to this, money shouldn’t be an obstacle to enjoy a great day since the idea of Valentine’s Day is for people to share their love.

Some share it with boyfriends, girlfriends, family, friends, partners and just about anyone who appreciates love.

But there’s no need to break the bank. Be creative by making a photo album, writing a poem, or doing some artwork.

There are places that don’t require a lot of expense such as hiking, going on a picnic, taking a road trip, or going to the movies.

“I am going to take my girlfriend to the Tempe Town Lake,” MCC student Yatzel Balmaceda said.

“When I pick her up I will blind fold her and when we reach the lake, I’m going to surprise her with champagne and candle lights. Then I’m going to take out my guitar and sing her a song I wrote her.”

Many restaurants will have special dinner for Valentine’s Day such as South Wine Bar and Kitchen.

“We have a special menu for Valentine’s day, as well as live music and entertainment,” said Katrina, a South Wine Bar employee.

“It’s a place to relax with family, friends and experience great times.”

Also, there is a play at MCC on Valentine’s Day called “Matchmaker” which is a great way for students to support their college and go on a fun date.

For those who are single there are fun things to do just with their friends such as making silly Valentine’s cards, or passing out heart candy’s with funny sayings on them.

The fun thing about this holiday is that there is so much candy involved, it is almost like Halloween.

If some feel like they have indulged too much pre-Valentine’s Day candy then they can always hit the gym. It is even better if they are single, because there are always single people at the gym.

If students are still trying to think of ways to surprise their loved ones on the romantic holiday, then they can try doing something with candles, because they always set the mood and give a nice glow, roses, because they are a sign of passion and smell nice, and chocolate, because it is sweet, sticky, and a guilty pleasure.

With all these options, there is no reason to stay home on Valentine’s Day.

Don’t allow not having money or a date from going out and having a great time.
