Fifty Shades of Black just a repeat of ‘Grey’

As we all know, 50 Shades of Grey is known for its raunchy scenes and dominating men. As for 50 Shades of Black, it’s the same story. But do men and women really like that stuff? The continuing sales of whips and chains at sex shops seem to suggest that BDSM is a very active lifestyle. Does 50 Shades of Grey really capture that in the right way? Much like its predesessor, Fifty Shades of Black once again fails to capture the nuances of the BDSM lifestyle. This time however, the questionable romance between Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey has been replaced with poop jokes. But for many, the lifestyle perpetuated by ‘Grey’ and now ‘Black’ is no laughing matter. She also pointed out, “The way that they’re portraying it in the movie and in the book, it’s very controlling and manipulative.”
Because a book was written about the BDSM life, people might seem to think that the practices in the film are true to BDSM when in fact, it is horribly misrepresented. In fact, a lot of people don’t even know what a dominant/submissive relationship is. Jamee Jackson said, “I don’t even know what those words mean.” However, there could be danger for those who don’t know what it is. There will be manipulation and deceit involved. A dominant and submissive relationship goes beyond sexual terms. It goes as far as abusive relationships.
In society, it is known for the man to be in control and to be the domineering one while the woman does what she’s told and to let the man do the handling. Unfortunately, there’s no way to stop the BDSM ways. As Jami Williams said, “It’s always going to exist.” And she’s right. Especially at a college where a lot of young women attend,” said Williams. In Mesa, for example, there are “bad” sides of town and good sides of town. If a woman is caught walking alone, it could mean trouble. And films like ‘Fifty Shades of Black” certainly don’t help the situation. ‘Fifty Shades of Black’ and the source material, ‘Fifty Shades of Grey both fail in their goals to delve into the BDSM lifestyle and thus, create an dangerous misrepresentation.
