Defense propels Lady T-birds to victory over Luke AFB 82-67

The women’s basketball team played Luke Air Force Base the day of homecoming.
Gritty defense, down the stretch, was the key to the 82-65 victory.
The T-birds held a ten point lead at halftime, but Luke AFB made a surge midway through the second half.
The lady T-birds came together and played aggresive defense down the stretch though, forcing a couple of key turnovers.
Though the T-birds turned the ball over 21 times to the Falcon’s 13, the Thunderbirds got turnovers when they needed them, and were able to keep Luke from closing the gap in the second half.
The defense prevented the Falcons from shooting a lot of high percentage shots as well, holding them to 33% from the field.
# 22 Katie Tomlinson had a double-double for the lady T-birds with 14 rebounds and 16 points, providing crucial points when the lead was in jepordy.
# 24 Briana Benjamin also played well in the victory, converting five of six from the line and three of seven from behind the arc.
The Thunderbirds can build on this win as they prepare for the CSI Classic, a tournament that will be held in Twin Falls, Idaho, between the 12th and 14th of November.
