This upcoming holiday season is the time when students wrack their brains for gift ideas.
There are many new and updated options to choose from that will be within any size budget this year.
Electronics are this year’s hottest gifts again with the next generation of video game systems, cameras and music players.
Apple returned with their newest music player, the fifth generation iPod Nano.
This time, the Nano offers a larger screen, a pedometer, live FM radio and voice-over technology where you can hear the artist and song name of the track that is playing.
Most importantly, the new Nano now has video recording capabilities. This allows people to record live video anything and being able to upload it anywhere.
For the 8GB model, it costs $149, which considering the features and product quality, it could be worth the price tag.
Among popular electronics are video game consoles.
The Sony corporation dropped the price of their popular game console, the PS3. It is now more affordable than ever at $300 for their 120GB model.
Nintendo also lowered the price of their Wii console. The system could now be purchased for $200 at major retail stores.
New games like Little Big Planet and Beatles Rock Band are already available in stores, but there are others arriving soon.
On Oct. 27, the makers of Guitar Hero debuted their newest hit, DJ Hero. This game is based on using a turntable in place of the guitar while the concept stays the same.
Fort those who are an aspiring disc jockey, steer clear due to the cost. This game carries a $120 price tag, while the special ‘renegade edition’ will cost about $200.
Another game is the second installment of the “Assassin’s Creed” trilogy which is due to hit stores Nov. 17.
The price is expected to be typical for new games, which is about a $60 a piece.
For 2009, electronics are not the only popular gifts. With new movies like the second installment of the Twilight series and the new Disney movie “The Princess and the Frog,” there are multiple gift ideas and movie memorabilia.
The release of “New Moon” brings out clothing, accessories, even dolls to satisfy even the dire teen vampire fans.
When it comes to buying gifts for young boys, or girls, Legos are still the ever popular toy. Look to spend anywhere from $5 to upwards of $100.
