Mesa’s softball team played a doubleheader against Scottsdale on March 30 and swept the Artichokes handily. They beat Scottsdale 5-1 in the first game and finished the series with a 10-4 victory.

Mesa found a lot of success at the plate against the Artichokes, putting up runs with ease.

Tiffanie Frampton got the win, pitching a near flawless game for the Thunderbirds. The win was her 13th of the season. She also added a home-run in both games.

Shannon Dukes got the win for Mesa in the second game.

“We were clicking today really well. Everyone did their part,” Frampton said.

Sarah Sandoval was honored with the ACCAC Division II Batter of the Week for her dominating performance against Phoenix College.

Sandoval had two RBI’s, two stolen bases and scored three runs in her effort against Phoenix College.

Mesa’s success so far this season has allowed them to crack the NJCAA top 10. They currently rank ninth in the nation.

The ladies hope to continue their success as they close out the season and prepare for the regional tournament.

The regional tournament begins at the end of the month.
