Lady T-Birds shut out Aztecs

For the lady T-Birds, the competition was fierce from the beginning of the game.
Thirty seconds into the game, the Aztecs tried for a goal, which was blocked by T-Birds sophomore goalie Kylie Dean.
Both teams fought hard, but lady T-Birds wanted the victory more by showing a corner kick coming from sophomore midfielder Kirsten Ryan, which allowed a header by teammate Taylor Rae Bennett-Begaye, making the score T-Birds 1, Aztecs 0.
As the T-Birds took the ball down the field again, the team tried for the shot, but it was denied by the Aztecs goalie.
Sophomore midfielder Monique Correa then slid-kicked the ball into the goal, which increased the T-Birds lead to 2-0.
After halftime, the ladies did not let the thought of winning get to their heads, as they continued to fight hard.
With 37:09 left in the second half, freshman forward Hailey Huffman scored a line-drive goal against the Aztecs, which put them in a dominant lead of 3-0.
After the shut-out victory over Pima, Dean said, “I’m feeling confident coming off of back to back wins and feel great going into the next tough opponent Chandler-Gilbert.”
The same thing was said by Huffman; “I’m feeling confident with the good positioning going into to playoffs, and I learned to keep our head in the game the whole time and not to get cocky.”
