What is all the crazy talk about? Rumors have flown over the years, predictions to end the world, yet we’re all still here.

Why is 2012 so important?

The Mayan civilization of Central America was and is the most advanced in relation to time-science knowledge. Their main calendar is the most accurate on the planet.

The Mayan calendar stops at the end of the year 2012, churning up all sorts of religious, scientific, astrological and historic reasons why this calendar foretells the end of the world as we know it.

The Mayan prediction that has the world stirring comes from a simple belief that our biological process is transforming, approaching the culmination of a 26,000 year evolutionary cycle.

The grand cycle is predicted to culminate on winter solstice, Dec. 21, 2012.

The end is to be marked with a polar reversal, super volcanic activities, massive earthquakes, tsunamis, nasty hurricanes, and the invasion of a new ice age.

Thomas Lee, a philosophy instructor at MCC, explained that although the theory is comprehensible, it’s not necessarily true.
