Men’s team beats Chandler-Gilbert Coyotes

Coming off a close 64-60 win to the Central Arizona College Vaqueros, the MCC Men’s basketball team came in looking to start the 2015 year off with their second win over the 7-9 Chandler-Gilbert Coyotes.  The T-Birds sent in Khari Holloway, Gianni Dailey, Jordan Pratt, Kyle Bingham, and Andrew Jones in to face The Chandler-Gilbert Coyotes Michael Carter, Frankie Teran, Joshua Sanchez, Legend Artis, and Makhtar Fall.

The T-Birds started things with Bingham in facing the Coyotes Fall in the opening tipoff; Bingham won the tip, with a pass to Jones for the three. Coyotes with the ball; Carter for the three, good the game was now tied at 3.  Teran pulled up for a three; the Coyotes now had a 3 point lead over the T-Birds.  Holloway, with the three; the Mesa T-birds now had a 7-6 lead.  Charles Wardell sunk a three, giving Mesa a ten-point lead 18-8.

Teran shot for a two; it is good, the Coyotes were on a 6-0 run to pull within four (18-14)  Wardell put up another three; and that one was good; Mesa now is up 21-14 in the first half.  Mitch Burnett with the shot, which was good for two; Mesa now took a 29-18 lead. Wardell sets and put up another three and the shot was good. Mesa had a 40-23 lead nearing the end of the first half.  The Coyotes tried for the last shot, but it was no good. at the half it’s Mesa Community College 43 and Chandler-Gilbert 23.

Chandler-Gilbert started the second half with the ball.  Bingham shot and scored giving the Mesa T-Birds a 50-29 in the second half.  The Mesa T-Birds beat the Chandler Gilbert Coyotes 73-43 improving their record to 10-5 sending the Coyotes home with a 7-10 record.  Both starters Khari Holloway and Andrew Jones led the T-Birds with 15 points each in their win.  For Chandler-Gilbert; Michael Carter, Jr. and Franky Teran scored a combined total of 39 points out of the 43 points the Coyotes scored during this evening’s loss.
