The Mesa Community College softball team has had a tough year putting runs on the board.

The lady T-Birds want to make sure the last part of their season does not mirror the beginning.

Playing host to the Thunderbirds of Highline Community College from Des Moines, Washington, Mesa finally put metal to the ball and brought home runs.

In the fifth inning, the T-Birds batted around, scoring four runs on two hits, with a little help from Highline’s mistakes.

The T-Birds also used stellar defense to keep Highline baserunners off the basepaths.

Mesa added four more runs in the last two innings, coming out victorious, 10-2.
