Nine million people were glued to their television screens to watch the premiere of “The Muppets” brand new show on ABC that premiered on Sept. 22.  It was a huge hit with ratings of four out of five stars.  This show closes in on the most comical characters from the original show and movies made back in the ‘50s.  The show is a perfect mix of “The Office” and “30 Rock”, giving that behind-the-scenes documentary feel, where you get to witness the Muppets personal lives at work and at home.

Starring all of your favorite Muppets such as Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, The Great Gonzo, and Fozzie Bear, among other characters.  The biggest question all viewers have is, are Kermit and Miss Piggy going to get back together? Can they solve their problems and become the strong couple we have known them to be for over 60 years, or will Kermit give in to his new love interest Denise, the younger and hotter version of Miss Piggy that people are claiming her to be.

Many Muppet fans were very unhappy to hear about Kermit and Miss Piggy’s sudden breakup.  I feel the show is great for the whole family with lots of laughs. You really get up close and personal with the Muppets and get the chance to see what it’s like to really be apart of such a zany cast of characters.  It will ultimately depend on the parents who give the final say if they will allow their young children to watch this show or not.

The Muppets have been on top for a while now with their big budget movies made in recent years such as “Muppets Most Wanted”, but will this show make the cut?   There is a petition made by the all mothers group known as One Million Moms. The group said “The puppet characters loved by kids in the 1970s and 1980s and beyond are now weighing in on abortion and promiscuity.”

Recently Miss Piggy announced in a interview that she is “pro-everything”
This sentiment did not resonate with more conservative Muppet fans and has caused controversy.  “ABC has ruined “The Muppets”  The plan for the One Million Moms group is to get the show canceled since the show is not “kid-friendly”, but you will have to watch the show and debate this one for yourselves.
