Saddlebags: On-demand freshman 15

It’s no secret that college students eat unhealthily, but when pizza, Ramen and booze become staples in one’s diet, a food intervention is needed.
Between studying, going to class, playing endless hours of Madden, or watching T.V. series on DVD, going to the grocery store in search of healthier meal options seem to be much more of a chore.
Ordering a pizza seems to be the more time efficient plan while pausing your Ondemand.
The effortless click of a button will have your 1,000 calorie cheesy pie at the front door in 20 minutes.
Then, back to the intense season finale of Dexter. I mean that nine-page paper due tomorrow morning on the difference between John Locke and Thomas Jefferson.
No one has time to cook anymore; this is why any delivery service thrives in a college town.
It doesn’t help the fact that a handful of speedy food establishments stay open late to meet a college student’s every need.
I believe that Taco Bell was created with intoxicated 21-year-olds in mind.
There is no way they came up with their genius fourth meal without thinking of the notorious procrastinating student.
Hungry Howies is open well after the bars close, until 3 a.m. or later, and offers a variety of delicious crust flavors with their mouth watering pizza.
No one would choose a pricy stale salad when they can get a large greasy pepperoni pizza with butter cheese crust at a low price of $5.
It’s an inevitable fate for college students to gain 15 pounds at sometime in college, usually within the first year. (see: freshman fifteen)
For some, who attend class all day, their eating habits turn into a 10 p.m. date with Ramen noodles.
At around eight cents a package, Ramen noodles are the perfect price for a student’s budget.
However, for those who aren’t thrilled with the size of their backside, eating healthy is a hop, skip, and celery stick away.
All one needs is self-discipline, and a plan.
Taking a trip to the grocery store or even a healthy alternative grocer, like Fresh and Easy or Sunflower Market, will limit those fatty foods from being purchased.
Opting for those leafy greens and of course, taking a jog on the ever so frightening treadmill, will reduce the saddlebags you see on your thighs.
