Students who choose to spend spring break in Mexico are advised to take extra precautions. Due to a recent rise in violence along the U.S. Mexico border, the U.S. Department of State has issued a travel alert (effective through Aug. 20, 2009) to those traveling to and from Mexico. To see the complete alert please visit the U.S Department of State’s website at: http://travel.state.gov/travel/cis_pa_tw/pa/pa_3028.html.

The U.S. Department of State encourages all U.S. citizens to phone home periodically to assure family members of their safety and inform them of their whereabouts. Remember, whether you travel to Mexico by land, air, or sea, you are entering a foreign country and are subject to the laws and customs regulations of Mexico.
