“From day one students agree to commit to their education complete their degree and compete both on and off the field,” according to Director of Athletics, John Mulhern.  The reason why Mesa Community College has success in their athletic programs is because of coaches MCC hires and leadership they show and also student recruitment plays a role in the success.  Here at MCC athletes not only excel on the field but they also excel off the field. For example, seven of our teams were all-academics teams, while 18 were all-American.  Two teams won national championships and one was the runner up.

Baseball won a national championship and was an all-academic team this past season. There are the statistics to back that, showing all of this success.  I wish more staff, students and community members took the time to realize that MCC athletics nearly won three national championships lest year after nearly 34 years without multiple teams having success.  If one is committed to their education and dedicated to completing their education so they can move on, they would be the perfect fit for an MCC athlete.  At the rate we are going, more and more teams will bring back national championships in which I hope the staff and students at MCC and the community members will soon realize that the product that MCC puts out is worth watching.
