International students overcome differences

Foreign students who have decided to graduate and get a degree from the United States, have to go through many processes and situations, where adaptation plays a very important role.
The first aspect international students face is the language barrier. Even though the majority of them have learned the basics of English language in their culture, the slang and different forms of expressions make it harder and add challenges.
Being in another country where culture, traditions and social norms are different, translates into many adujustments for students studying abroad.
“I moved to AZ two years ago and want to major in business,” MCC student Rogelio Robles said.
” It has been a great experience but at the same time I miss my family and the way of living I am used to,” he added.
International students must also learn which laws are different in the United States, such as traffic laws and the legal drinking age, since every country has a different system.
All of these differences, combined with being away from home and family, make foreign students appreciate their culture and family more.
“I really did not have to much communication with my parents before moving here. Today, I talk to my parents in Argentina every single day,” Robles said.
Studying in another country is a great opportunity to experience new adventures, learn about the diversity of cultures, meet people from all around the world.
“The best experience of my life has been (graduating) from the U.S.” said Carlos Soto, a former MCC student.
