T-Birds lose 4-3 to CGCC

On Oct. 19, the Thunderbirds fell to the Coyotes 4-3, ending the season with a disappointing 7-14 record.
“We fought hard, but there’s really nothing at this point you can take away until we recap our whole season and try and look at the positives and figure out what the negatives were and fix those,” said Andrew Guarneri, head coach of both the men’s and women’s soccer teams.
The game featured 3 goals in the first 7 minutes, with forwardmiddle Robert Bechtel scoring Mesa’s first two goals, that put the T-Birds up 2-1 with 38:44 left in the first half.
“We did alright, but we didn’t get the win,” Bechtel said.
It was a rollercoaster of a game. Each team had many scoring opportunities, but either the goalie made an amazing save, or the ball just glanced off the post.
With just 11:34 left in the game, the Coyotes scored on the T-Birds that left Mesa deflated. The T-Birds did not recover, and went on to fall to the Coyotes by the end of regulation.
