Organic produce and houseplants were abound on Oct. 21 at the Environmental Action Club’s semi-annual plant sale. Vegetables, such as varieties of broccoli, tomato, chili kale, succulents, like agave and aloes, seeds and other natural items were grown by the EAC and sold for low prices. Flowers were donated by Shady Acres nursery as well.

Many customers participated in the event to embrace their green thumbs – or at least make up for lack of one.

“I killed my son’s tomato plant yesterday and came to replace it,” Dee Ericksonmoen, a nursing student said. Ericksonmoen purchased a tomato plant of the “early girl” verity for $3.

In spite of the low prices, the club anticipated making between $500-$600.

“The money [EAC] makes from this goes to activities,” Ron Dinchak, EAC adviser said, “the next thing we have planned is we’re going to do a service project out in Boyce-Thomson Southwestern Arboretum by Superior.”

All plants sold were pesticide-free.
