Fall fashion hits the hallways

Although autumn in the Valley is virtually non-existent, MCC students were spotted incorporating pieces from their fall wardrobe in their daily outfits, despite the 100 degree temperatures.
“I think because of the season, it is really hard to develop style in Arizona,” said Amaris Dinh, ASU microbiology major. “In Winter you can wear boots and scarves and legwarmers, but in Arizona if you wear that you are kind of crazy; You have to dress to match the weather.”
Dinh mixes fall accessories, like a blazer, with warm-weather friendly pieces like a flowy maxi dress.”
“By having one or two key items, it doesn’t have to be an entire outfit, but that one thing can add to the whole look,” Dinh said.
Coeds also dressed for an Arizona fall by incorporating traditional fall colors in their outfits. Jewel tones, denim, and leather were the trendiest color and texture trends this fall on campus.
Light-weight pullover sweaters and large graphic prints were popular in Men’s fashion.
“I like to wear Forever 21 because the patterns that they use are very out of the box,” said Manny Banda, MCC economics major.
MCC student, Cymmone Neal said that she chooses to buy clothing from stores which reflect her elegant and versatile style.
“My favorite places to shop are Zara, Forever 21, and I work at Michael Kors so I shop there all of the time,” Neal said.
Other students preferred an alternative to mall fashions by shopping online.
“I honestly get all my stuff online,” said MCC business major Melissia Williams. “I go on Instagram and see something I like, then I go to that page and get it from there.”
Students said they were inspired by various fashion blogs, designers like Tommy Hilfiger and fashion icons like Victoria Beckham.
However, Banda said his style inspiration came from his trips abroad.
“I get my information and style by looking at different people and traveling too, I think that influences me a lot,” Banda said.
Joseph Carrasco, sustainability major at MCC, said he has a relaxed, casual sense of style.
“I am not trying to impress anybody. I just want to feel good and look good too, but not try too hard,” Carassco said.
