Homecoming began at 5 p.m. at The Kirk Student Center with a reception for Mesa’s 18 National championship teams.  It was a celebration complete with snacks, a slide show presentation, and photo opportunities with T-Bird the school mascot followed by the game at 7 p.m.  Eastern Arizona defeated Mesa 34-20. The first quarter looked promising with Mesa’s score at seven and Eastern Arizona at zero. However, Eastern used good offense and defense and managed to come up on top.  “Hard night for us, but a clean play all around,” Coach Ryan Felker said. He also reiterated how hard the T-Birds have been working, and that it was a good game.  Unfortunately, one of Mesa’s quarterbacks, Rathen Ricedorff, was injured last week during the game against Pima.

He has contributed steadily throughout the season, and would have been an aid against Eastern.  Eastern’s player Dietrich Clark helped to hammer the T- birds by scoring three touchdowns as well as being quick on his feet and uncatchable.  Though Mesa tried in the last third and fourth quarter to tackle the opponent and gain yards, it was not enough. Mesa consecutively lost the game Oct. 3rd at New Mexico Military Institute.IMG_5452IMG_5416 copy
