MCC alums’ sculpture featured in Valley public art program

Pictured is a sculpture by MCC alumni Dave Higley, Ashley Bennardo, and Jephyr Curtis. The piece, entitled “Natural Monolith,” was submitted by the three artists as part of platFORM, an initiative by several public art programs around the Valley to allow students an opportunity to create temporary sculptures for use in public spaces. According to a description of the piece, the shades of green are meant to bring out the natural colors of the desert landscape, while at night the LEDs set in the glass light the sculpture from the inside. The statue is 8 feet tall, and can be found in the Tempe Beach Park. For more information about the platFORM project, visit http://platform-az.org/
