Mackenzie Shivers led the team in scoring with 16 points, shooting 2-3 from three point range.

Kamiyah Hurd finished with a team high 12 rebounds while adding 11 points herself.

CeCe Cabrero and Jaida Brooks ended the game tied for the team high in assists with four, while Brooks snagged three steals in the contest as well.

The Thunderbirds started the game a bit sloppy, giving up a 7-2 start to the Coyotes.

However, the Thunderbirds would take control and go on an 18-0 scoring run. The team ended the first quarter up 20-10, ending on a 20-3 run.

The Thunderbirds would extend the scoring run to start the second quarter, starting on a 15-0 scoring run. It would cap off what would ultimately be a 35-3 scoring run between the first two quarters of the game.

Good transition and post offense guided the Thunderbirds to 46 total points in the paint on the night. The Coyotes finished with 18 points in the paint.

The Thunderbirds did not connect from three as they normally do, as they only hit two three pointer in the first half. The team would hit five in the second half to finish 6-17, below their average of shooting just over 20 three pointers per game.

The Thunderbirds’ largest lead of the game peaked at 34, though two separate scoring runs of 9-2 and 10-0 led to a final score of 82-63.

The Thunderbirds will play their next playoff game at Scottsdale Community College at home on Saturday night, with tip off coming at 7 p.m.
