Sites offer students inexpensive vacation opportunities

After tuition, rent, utilities and grocery shopping, having extra cash around when in school is hard to come by.Student’s wallets aren’t exactly willing to open for extravagant vacations.

However, with Web sites like Expedia.com, Travelocity.com, and Statravel.com focused on getting the most bang for the buck, it’s easier for the broke college students to go on great vacations at a reasonable price.

“For my last trip that I took I used Travelocity.com,” MCC student Kelsey Davis said.

“Travelocity gave me the best deal out there compared to all of the other sites. I would reccomend this site to anyone.”

Las Vegas, Nevada is a very popular spot to be these days.

Luckily, it’s a hop, skip and a jump over the Hoover Dam, and five hours later you arrive in Sin City.

Just the thought of Vegas probably scares every student’s wallet.

But after splitting the cost of the hotel room with friends, bringing store bought food and drinks and researching fun, free things to do in the crazy city, while not spending too much money would be easy.

“I just got back from a three night stay in Vegas and I ended up spending less than $200 the whole time,” ASU student, Amanda Patterson said.

Las Vegas has loads of delicious buffets, but some can be very pricey.

“I just knew that I couldn’t spend a lot of money so I budgeted myself by eating PB&J sandwiches and not carelessly spending,” Patterson said.

Patterson stayed at Imperial Palace, which is a less expensive hotel on the strip, also knowing someone around where your visiting is a huge advantage when taking a vactation.

“I actually have a friend that lives in Vegas, so staying with him the weekend saved me a lot of money,” ASU student, David Gondo said.

Gondo also didn’t waste money by going to the clubs that have the high cover charges to get in to.

“We had a great time just walking around and seeing all the attractions,” Gondo said.

Also, just by walking around, the street vendors have discounted prices to shows and clubs.

During the day, it is typical to go to a pool at one of the hotels.

“The pools in Vegas aren’t your normal pools, it’s like a party during the day, and girls are always free,” MCC student, Britney Hufeld said.
