MCC’s homecoming offers entertainment for everyone.Mesa Community College staff and ASMCC is making sure that the Thunderbird’s homecoming is an event not to miss out on.
Tailgating and other events start at 4 p.m. on Nov. 7 on the soccer fields next to the football stadium before the 7 p.m. kickoff against New Mexico Military.
Homecoming is going to be filled with fun and a variety of entertainment for all. There will be a Pop Warner game to watch, along with a DJ and live music. Campus clubs will also have booths set up with a variety of interesting and fun activities.
Children’s activities will include a bounce castle, a cardboard maze, face painting and more.
The first 500 people that show up can enjoy free food, such as hot dogs, along with barbecue that can be purchased. ASMCC will be handing out free root beer floats until kickoff.
Some faculty and students will be split into teams and provide half-time with an amusing game.
Bec Veerman, ASMCC events coordinator is looking forward to the powder puff game.
“It is funny to see that some of the staff is more outgoing than the students are for the game,” Veerman said.
Along with the powder puff game will be the powder puff cheerleaders.
Jaimel Hill, the Thunderbird’s tight end coach, has enjoyed the opportunity to teach the girls some football techniques.
He has also been recruiting for the traditional male cheerleader team to cheer on the girls. “I’m a team player, to go out and have a lot of fun, I’m down,” Hill said, who will be joining in on the cheerleading routine.
“Those who come to the game will be entertained, even if we win or lose, it will be fun for everyone,” Veerman added.
The activities for kids will still be available during the game, and the music will continue after the game is over.
Show school spirit and join in on the homecoming festivities.
