American Nightmare

Legends Staff

Depression. Isolation. Despair.

Ponder those concepts for a moment.

Do they seem to be a bit more prevalent as each day passes?

They might not, because we’ve been slowly desensitized to a point where it is difficult to understand the maze we’ve been lowered into.

The truth is the dream that we’ve been taught to strive for is no longer part of the sign-on package simply for being an American.

In fact, foreclose the home, divorce the spouse, and cash in your minimum wage part-time paycheck, then throw it into the All-American, tomahawk triple shredder, because the dream has radically changed since this depression (read: recession).

Or better yet, how about take 30 percent of your paycheck and give it away to the money-printing, bomb-dropping, oil-spilling, fear machine that used to be the U.S. Government.

For the average student, the cost of living alone has risen so disproportionately that even if one is earning any money at all, it’s most likely off of wage slave status.

None needs to be reminded of the dangling carrot and the costs of U.S. education. It’s a pricey carrot indeed (it must be organic).

So few students even make enough money to save anything at all, since rent, food, phones, Internet, insurance, and rising tuition don’t seem to be taken into account that we, as students, are actually somewhat poor.

Keep in mind, the American dream isn’t really about money, although that’s how it’s painted out to be here.

It was supposed to be about happiness, but good luck finding the traditional form of happiness. It’s an illusion.

We need to go back to the drawing board and rethink the situation.
