The Mesa Community College Honors Program is typical of any college’s honors program.MCC’s program has smaller, dynamic class sizes where students receive the highest level of personalized guidance and student support.

Students must apply to enter the Honors Program, and to graduate, a student must maintain a 3.5 GPA, complete a minimum of 15 Honors credits and one credit of service learning.

More than 350 sections of honors classes are offered in 20 different disciplines, and each honors credit is accepted by other colleges and universities.

Due to its higher standards, the program encourages students to strive to achieve the maximum benefit from the educational services provided by the Maricopa community colleges.

MCC President Scholars with a 3.75 GPA can participate in the MCC/ASU Honors Alliance.

The purpose of the Honors Program is to foster greater depth of thought in reading, writing, and discussion with faculty and guest lecturers that will better prepare Honors students to complete degrees and to begin their careers.

“MCC has a rigorous honors program dedicated to helping each student reach their highest potential,” said Lanae Jackson, the honors program site supervisor.

“We offer a rigorous multi-disciplinary curriculum that emphasizes active, small-group learning supported by related extra-curricular activities,” Jackson added.

The MCC Honors Program offers Associate of Arts (AA), Associate of Science (AS), and Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree programs in over 100 fields of study.

The program’s focus is set on students developing valuable academic skills such as critical thinking, research and communication in all areas of study.

“Honors students at Mesa Community College form a community of bright, energetic and caring students who are committed to their classes, to the Honors Program and to the college,” Jackson said.
