Legend’s view:

America has been viewed as the Policeman to the World for what seems like a long time. Maybe too long.

For America to keep its status atop the global powers, America must protect not only its interests on its home land but also in any foreign nations abroad.

America views any threat to its foreign interests as a direct threat to America’s status in the world.

As a result of this, it forces the country to poke its noses in a lot of places overseas that the critics say is unjust.

Being the Policeman to the World implies that that nation must be superior to many other nations economically, amongst other things.

For the sake of remaining as such, the superior country must be able to set a limit or recognize its breaking point.

Only so many resources can be stretched before the scarcity of these resources becomes an issue.

In a good economy, these resources can be replenished faster and with greater efficiency.

The current economic situation does not present the ideal situation to be engaged in multiple wars overseas.

This poses the question: Has America been too involved with protecting its foreign interests and maintaining the Policeman to the World status for too long? If so, should we relinquish this title?

For too long, it seems that America has been engaged in wars or conflicts overseas from Vietnam to Kuwait that seem to be for its own economic benefit.

Cutting back on America’s interest overseas would allow it to focus more on the people of the United States, which is in the current State of the Union, wouldn’t be such a bad thing.
