Summer is almost here and it’s finally time to let the fun begin.Memorial Day is the first holiday to kick off the student’s timeout from the nine months of grueling class schedules.

“I’ll be back home in Nor Cal where I will have a beer or two in honor of all the Veterans who served for our illustrious country,” said 22-year-old ASU student Clint Rose.

Though Memorial Day is not the only reason to rejoice, time away from school makes it all the better.

Lizzy Chavous, a 21-year-old ASU student will be heading to “Sin City.”

“All of my friends will be 21 by then, which means we can finally all go to Vegas,” Chavous said.

Some students may travel within the confines of the United States, but some prefer to branch out globally.

“I will be living with an African tribe in the jungle to experience third world poverty,” said 21 year old ASU student Luke Lindenbaum.

MCC student Liz Paulsen will be traveling to three countries this summer.

“I am going to sky dive in Canada, Germany and Australia,” Paulsen said.

Some students would rather spend their summer locally, such as 22-year-old ASU student Jason Fritz, who will be staying in Tempe during the break.

“My summer will be filled with boating, bar hopping and house partying,” Fritz said.

The holiday is not all fun and games for some MCC students.

“I will be spending my vacation taking classes so I can graduate on time,” said 21-year-old MCC student Laura Evanson.

There are many students who will be taking summer school instead of traveling or relaxing.

“I will be taking a few on-line classes over the break,” said 22-year-old MCC student Mark Jaime.
